In the "One where Nana Dies Twice" at the end of the episode the cast looks over pictures of Ross and Monica's Nana. One of the pictures is labeled 'Me and the gang at Java Joe's'. Java Joe's was one of the name possibilities for Central Perk during the shows creation stage.
The numbers of Monica's and Chandler and Joey's apartments in the pilot episode are 4 and 5. But in later episodes, they are 19 and 20. This is because they switched to a much bigger stage during that time period because 'Friends' was becoming such a big hit.

In "TOW the baby on the bus" in the 2nd season, Phoebe looses her job as a singer at Central Perk. As a protest she sits outside singing for money. Rachel comes out to give Phoebe a cup of coffee. They talk for a while and Phoebe revels that one of her donations for playing Smelly Cat was a condom. A moment later a guy comes running to get back the condom, played by Giovanni Ribisi. He's not meant to be her brother, as her brother says when she meets him that he's never been to the city before - just a random incidence of an actor playing different roles across series.
In "The One With Phoebe's Husband" Joey's porn movie was going to be titled *How To Suck Seed In Business*. Cue network interference, leading to various other suggestions. Ultimately, it went untitled.
In "TOW All The Football" the two children on the swings in the background are Marta Kaufman, the shows co-creator's, children.
In "The One With Ross's Wedding" (part one) there is a brief shot of Chandler and Joey on the top of the double decker bus. The man and the woman seated behind them is Adam Chase and Marta Kaufman, who both work on the show.
Joshua - Rachel's boyfriend in a few episodes, was in fact Jennifer Aniston's boyfriend for 3 years.
In the one where Rachel wears the nightie to the restaurant, the man playing Joshua's dad is John Bennett Perry, Matthew Perry's real dad.
"TOW Rachel's Crush" was the first episode in which Joey uses his trademark line "How...you doin'?"
In the episode "TOW the Girl Who Hits Joey", Ross (David Schwimmer) is called "3B" by the other residents of his new building. Schwimmer played Josh '4B' Goldstein on *NYPD Blue*.
When Joey's trying to get his picture up in the dry cleaners, the owner claims never to have seen Air Force One. The actor playing the owner is Ilia Volokh, and he actually played one of the terrorists in Air Force One.
Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis starred together in the movie "The Whole Nine Yards". While making the movie, Matthew made a bet with Bruce that the movie would open in the top position at the box office. If it did this (which it consequently did) Bruce had to star in an episode of Friends for no fee.
In series 10 there's an episode where Phoebe's getting rid of stuff in preparation for Mike moving in, and she dumps two horrendous 3D paintings on Monica and Rachel. I figured they were just created for that show, but in "TOW Phoebe Runs", 4 seasons earlier, before Rachel goes out for her run we can actually see one of them in the background - nice to see a long term plot device being used.
In the opening credits of "The One After Vegas," all of the cast member's names have "Arquette" attached to them. This is a reference to Courtney Cox's long awaited marriage to David Arquette.
When Rachel is describing her encounter with Winona Ryder's character, she says it was after the Sigma Chi luau. Brad Pitt (her husband at the time) was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Missouri.
"TOW Joey's Award" is the only episode known to give direct reference to the F-Word. When Joey doesn't get his award he says, "What the f-" but when the F-Word comes, he slams his fist on the table which blocks it out.
When Joey and Rachel are looking for name tags to con their way into the convention in "TOW in Barbados (Part One)", the name picked out for Rachel is Kate Miller. I just found it a bit odd that not a flicker of recognition passes across Joey's face, considering that was the name of Dina Meyer's character from season 3 who he was in love with.
The extras on the plane and in the coffee house in "TOW The Last One (part one)" are the production crew and friends and family.
A bit too unlikely to be just a coincidence, but I can't work out the significance. The doctor who delivers Phoebe's triplets (the one who loves Fonzie) played the evil head of Wolfram and Hart in "Angel". The doctor who delivers Erica's twins in this episode also plays the evil head of Wolfram and Hart in "Angel" (after the death of the first guy).
Just a thought: Every time Rachel hears someone talking French, she instantly becomes aroused (even when a woman does it). A few episodes later, she decides to move to Paris. Boy, that would be a hard time for her...
In "The One With The Tea Leaves", Monica is organizing her CD cases and mentions Bruce Springsteen. That's a bit wierd of her to say considering Courteney was dancing on stage with him in his "Dancing in the Dark" music video in 1984.
Throughout the series, 27 episode titles reference Rachel, 23 reference Ross, 15 reference Joey, 10 reference Chandler, 10 reference Phoebe and 8 reference Monica.

On this page, you can find some mistakes that have occurred on the show. They happen mostly because the writers sometimes forget what they wrote about a couple of seasons earlier (or even weeks earlier).

In "The One With The Fake Party" in season 4, Rachel says that she's 28. So, she would be 29 in season 5, but, in season 5 ("The One Where Phoebe Hates PBS"), Ross says that he's not 30 yet, so, he would be 29 too. Ross is suppose to be a few years older than Rachel.
In a couple of seasons, Joey is on the T.V. drama, Days of Our Lives but that's shot in California, and Friends takes place in New York.
In "The One With Rachel's Assistant" (Season 7), Monica asks Rachel if she can still get a discount on her wedding dress (Rachel works at Ralph Lauren) and Rachel says yes, but in "The One With The Cheap Wedding Dress", the girls are trying to get a dress from a discount store in Brooklyn.
In "The One With The Cop" in season 5, Joey says that he met Rachel before Phoebe, but in the pilot episode, Joey and Phoebe were already hanging out when he met Rachel.
In "The One With The Mugging" Joey is seen taking a bunch of drinks out of Monica's refrigerator. In the first shot the drinks are cans and glass bottles but in the second second shot, they are all cans.
In "The One With The Lottery" in season 9, at the end of the episode in the last scene, you see all of the Friends with the same clothes that they had on last night even though it was in the morning. How come they didn't change their clothes in two days?
In "The One Where Rosita Dies" in season 7, Phoebe says that for the whole year, the only massage clients she's had were Ross and Monica. A couple of episodes earlier, we see that she has a bunch of clients.
In "The One With Phoebe's Dad", (Season 2) Phoebe says that her dad ran out on her before she was born. Later, in season 5, ("The One With Joey's Bag") she meets her dad and he says he was a horrible father. He couldn't get her to go to sleep, he made her cry, and he put her diapers on backwards. This means he ran out on her when she was a baby, not before she was born.
In "The One With The Secret Closet" in season 8, Phoebe says that Monica never lets her give her messages. In season 7, they mention that Phoebe did message Monica at least once.
In the Pilot episode, Monica is introducing Chandler to Rachel for the first time, but they already knew each other from school.
Rachel refers to her ex-fiancee as Barry Finkel in the pilot. In the rest of the show, he is known as Barry Farber.
In "The One With The Boobies" in the first season, Rachel mentions being at Phoebe's birthday but Phoebe's birthday is celebrated later in the season ("The One With Both Parts") and it couldn't have been the year before because Rachel didn't even know Phoebe then.
In "The One With The Jellyfish" in season 4, Monica keeps refusing Chandler's request for her to offer him a chance to be her boyfriend becasue she claims he will always be the guy who "peed on her." She never even mentions that throughout their whole relationship that started only 1 year later.
On TV shows, guest stars are not suppose to appear on the show if their real names where already mentioned but that has happened many times on Friends.

The boys' favorite movie is "Die Hard," a movie that Bruce Willis is in, but Bruce Willis appeared on Friends for 3 episodes in season 6 as Paul.
Alec Baldwin is mentioned is season 3 and later appears in season 8 as Parker, Phoebe's VERY enthusiastic boyfriend..
In season 1, Monica mentions "Mrs. Doughtfire". Robin Williams is in that movie but later appears in the third season as a crazy guy in the coffeehouse with Billy Crystal.
Susan Sarandon is mentioned by Ross in season 3 and later appears in season 7 as an actress on Days of Our Lives with Joey.
In season 2, Chandler mentions Sean Penn while he's talking to Eddie, his psycho roommate. Sean Penn appears in season 8 as Ursula's fiance in "The One With The Halloween Party".
In "The One Where Old Yeller Dies" in season 2, Monica gives Phoebe a movie to watch called "It's A Wonderful Life" but Marlo Thomas (Rachel's Mom) is in a remake of that movie.
Tom Selleck appears on Friends throughout the series but in "The One Where No One's Ready" at the end of the episode, Ross mentions "Magnum P.I.," which is a long-running T.V. show that Selleck was on.
Elliot Gould (Mr. Geller) was married to Barbra Striesand from 1963 to 1971, but Barbra Striesand was mentioned on the show 3 times. She was even mentioned about a minute before Jack was in the scene -- "The One After 'I Do' ".
In "The One With Ross'' Wedding, Part 1" Richard Branson played the guy who sold Joey a hat in London, but Branson is the chairman of Virgin Airways, the same airline that took the gang from New York to London.
Julia Roberts was a guest star in season 2 (The One After The Superbowl), but In "The One Where Rachel's Sister Babysits" in season 10, Amy calls herself 'Erin Brokovich,' refering to a movie that Julia Roberts starred in.

Ross says that he's 29 years old in the third, fourth, and fifth season ("The One Where Monica and Richard Are Just Friends," "The One Where They're Going To Party,'' & "The One Where Phoebe Hates PBS"). Does that mean he doesn't grow for three years?
OK, let's say he was only 29 in season 4. Monica says that she's "25... and 13 months" in the first season. That would mean that she's 27 in season 2, 28 in season 3, and 29 in season 4. Just like Ross! Monica is supposed to be younger than her 'older brother.'
In "The One Where Chandler Can't Cry" Chandler says he never cries, but in 'The One Where Everybody Finds Out" Rachel claims that Phoebe made Chandler cry 'using only her words.'
In "The One Where Ross Dates A Student" we see Ross eating ice cream but in "The One Where Chandler Doesn't Like Dogs" Ross says he hates ice cream.

Okay, so by now you probably know that I'm obsessed with this show. At school, kids even call me "Nerdy Geek, Friends Freak," and I don't blame them. I have...

I'm so upsets with Friends that I've visited the original Friends building in Greenwich Village, New York 2 times. Thats the building you see a shot of in every episode of Friends. The show isn't shot there though, it's shot in California.
I've also visited the high school that Jennifer Aniston went to as a teenager.
And I bought the book that Nancy Aniston (Jen's mother) published in 1999 about her relationship with Jen and her family. It's called From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir. I finished it and it's a really awesome book. The book also features pictures of Jen and her family when they were younger (Telly Savalas [Kojak], Jen's Godfather; John Aniston [Days of Our Lives actor]; John T. Melick, Jen's older brother; and Nancy Dow, Jen's mother.)
I've also seen a lot of he actors on shows other than Friends.

Have you ever noticed things are you thought were interesting? Well, here are some that came to my eye.

If Monica married either Dr. Richard Burke, Pete Becker, or Chandler Bing, (which she did), her initials would always be M.G.B.
Rachel had on the same shirt on in "The One With Ross' Library Book" and "The One Where Rosita Dies," which are both in season 7.
In "The One With The Sonogram At The End" (Season 1) Ross says he would like to name his baby Julia if it was a girl. He then changed his mind after dating Julie (Season 2). Later when he was dating Rachel, he said he would like the name
"Emily" ("The One Where Old Yeller Dies"). He changed his mind again after marrying (and divorcing) Emily in seasons 4-5. He and Rachel eventually took the name that Monica wanted, Emma!
In "The One With Ross' Step Forward" (Season 8), Ross describes Mona as a "Conversational Wizard." In "The One Chandler Takes A Bath" (Season 8), Monica describes Phoebe as a "Conversational Wizard."
Did you notice that a lot of the friends' historical gimmicks or quirks started in season 4.
- Joey's "How you doin'?"
- The "Giving the finger without actually having to give it" gesture that Ross made up.
- Phoebe's triplets.
- "Regina Philange"- Well, it actually started in 5:01, but it's a continuation to the last episode of season 4.
Ross had the same shirt on in "The One With Both Parts, Part 2" (Season 1) when he was talking to his dad in the restaurant, & "The One Where Ross Finds Out" (Season 2) in the 'When were you under me?' seen.
In "The One Where Ross Dates A Student" (Season 6) when Joey comes into the apartment while Chandler is talking to Dana on the phone, you can see the microphone over Matt LeBlanc's head.
If Ross and Rachel did name their daughter "Ruth," all of their initials would be R.G.
For the first 3 seasons there was a huge poll in the middle of Monica's apartment (Ross hits his head on it in "The One With The Giant Pocking Device") but we never see it again after season 3.
Ross had the same shirt on in "The One With The Prom Video" and "The One Where Joey Moves Out" (Both in season 2 and only 2 episodes apart).
Ross and Rachel have gotten together and broke up in in the same episode 3 times (season 2 - "The One With The List"; season 3 - "The One With The Morning After"; season 4 - "The One With The Jellyfish").
In "The One With The Giant Poking Device" Phoebe says that someone dies everytime she goes to the dentist. Later, Monica rips the head off of 'Rainy Day Bear'.
Monica never changes her last name after marrying Chandler.
Every time Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe hug, Monica is always in the middle and Rachel and Phoebe are always on the sides ("The One With The Breast Milk," "The One With Phoebe's Uterus," "The One After 'I Do'," and "The One With The Boob Job."
Joey has a different hairstyle at the beginning of "The One Where Emma Cries," even though it's a continuation from the last episode.
